In our native eco-system, plants and animals co-exist. Invasive plants disrupt this balance. Absence of local plants endangers the native insects, birds and animals. The berries of the bush honeysuckle are like “junk food” to birds and animals, and the bush honeysuckle plants kill off plants that wildlife need to survive. About 97% of Missouri's land is privately owned. So it is very important for both government agencies and the general public to get involved in the control of invasive plants
