What are invasive plants?

“Invasive (a.k.a Exotic, Alien, Non-native) plant” is the name given to a plant that did not originally grow here; it grows aggressively and spreads quickly, displacing other plants.  Invasive plants are a major reason for the decline of native plants. According to some estimates, 20% to 30% of all plant species growing in the U. S. have come from other continents.
